A waterside Newburyport restaurant is poised to open in its new location. As Glenn's Restaurant & Cool Bar settles into its newfound home at the Tannery Marketplace (50 Water St.), the restaurant has its sights set on a late February opening.
The origins of Glenn's begin with its namesake: you guessed it, Glenn. He began waiting tables in college and went on to open his first restaurant in 1986, a seasonal enterprise called Glenn's Galley. He and his now wife expanded the restaurant in 1991, expanding the menu, incorporating a wood grill, and unveiling Glenn's Restaurant & Cool Bar at its previous cool location on Merrimac Street.
Now, Glenn's is ready for its latest change and will once again serve the good people of Newburyport in the next few weeks — at a cooler location.
The restaurant focuses on sustainable seafood and local products to build its menu, which changes frequently. Appetizers range from baked chile pesto oysters to spring rolls with Szechuan spiced spot prawns, while the entrees include osso buco, pan-roasted duck breast, and blackened haddock filet.
Glenn's also regularly hosts live music acts and serves a selection of wines, beers, and cocktails.
