Anna's Taqueria, a 20-year-old burrito chain with quite a cult following, opened the doors to its seventh location tonight (February 29) at 5 p.m., according to a post on Instagram. Located at 27 Lincoln St. in Newton Highlands, the new outpost will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, serving breakfast until 11:30 a.m. on weekdays and 12:30 p.m. on weekends.
In addition to tacos and burritos, Anna's also serves quesadillas, rice plates, and a variety of sides and beverages (including horchata). The Newton location may include ice cream and salads, too, as founder Mike Kamio said in an interview this past fall. "We have the space, so we can make this kind of a test kitchen," he said. "We can try different things and see whether they work or not."
With other locations in Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, and Somerville, Anna's might not stop at seven. "It could go to 10, it could go to 12, it could go to 20," Kamio previously said. "We'll see. I look at traffic patterns; I look at whether there are places that Anna's customers would be."
