An East Boston restaurant specializing in Mexican fare straight from Puebla has opened a second location just under two miles away. Angela's Cafe grandly opened its new Orient Heights location (1012 Bennington St.) on Saturday, offering East Boston more opportunity to feast on chilaquiles and tamales.
The family-owned restaurant is named for the woman behind the concept, Angela Atenco Lopez, who is from Puebla and creates a range of flavorful moles (sauces) served with her dishes, including mole poblano, pipian verde, pipian rojo, adobo, and chiles en nogada.
This new location offers the same menu, and while the first Angela's is open until 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, this new location operates from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week. There are breakfast and lunch menus featuring huevos rancheros, dulce de leche pancakes, omelets, burritos, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and more. A brunch menu is also available.
Angela's was named best Mexican restaurant in the Improper Bostonian's 2015 roundup and has developed quite a following over the years.
