A new brewery coming to Cambridge will have a lineup of tasty bar snacks to serve alongside pints of its own beer. Lamplighter Brewing Co., currently under construction at 248 Broadway, announced in a blog post on its website that the city of Cambridge granted the brewery its pouring permit, common victualler license, and entertainment license.

To celebrate, Lamplighter shared more details on the plans for its taproom, including the lowdown on its food menu. They're "going American with this beer hall," and tossing around ideas for the dogs that will be coming out of their tiny kitchen. How does a blue cheese chicken dog sound? What about a Thai pork dog with spicy peanut sauce? And you can't forget the classic beef dog with some 'kraut, along with some tots, both standard and sweet potato-based.

Lamplighter is also working on a veggie dog, but the team wrote: "We'd really like to not serve something that pretends to be meat (tempeh 'beef' dog...hmmm...how about no...), so we're playing with some Indian flavors and a cheese and nut combo." Suggestions are welcomed.

The brewery also wants to do a weekly trivia night and plans to have a selection of board games, "to make that first date a little less awkward," co-founder Cayla Marvil wrote on the blog. There are also plans for monthly events, possibly including tastings or collaborations, plus brewery tours.

"Overall, we want to create a neighborhood spot that's comfortable, friendly, and fun," Marvil wrote.

If construction continues according to plan, Lamplighter could be operational in early May, with the taproom up and running in early June.
