Cambridge will soon have a new source for Indian and Bangladeshi fare, right in the heart of Kendall Square. Shanti, which has locations in Dorchester and Roslindale, opens its newest location on Tuesday, according to Boston Magazine.
The Kendall Square location of Shanti has been in the works since early last year, when owners Solmon and Rokeya Chowdhury (who are also behind Dudley Cafe, and Monroe) announced plans for a third outpost. The pair first opened Shanti in Dorchester in 1999 and debuted the Roslindale location in 2013.
Shanti specializes in a broad swath of Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine. The large menu features cold appetizers, including salads and corn bhel; hot appetizers like soups, samosas, and pakoras; sides of yogurts and chutneys; and various vegetarian dishes, tandoori creations, and breads.
The entrees are prepared in different styles with a choice of meat. The styles include: tikka masala, bhuna (a Bangladeshi style), curry, patia, dopiaza, korma, vindaloo, shaag, jhalfrezie, and roganjosh.
Shanti (250 Kendall St.) is expected to seat 50 people and will have an outdoor patio in seasonal months.
