An East Cambridge restaurant boon continues with the prospect of a new spot opening up on Cambridge Street. A place called Pandan Leaf has applied for a common victualler license, and it appears to be connected to the owners of Tom Yum Koong in Medford, according to a Cambridge license commission hearing page.
The proposed manager of record for Pandan Leaf is Siriwan Daranuwat, who is half of the husband and wife team behind the ever-popular Thai restaurant in Medford, as well as Kapow Thai Cuisine in Dorchester.
If approved, Pandan Leaf could operate seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 569 Cambridge St., and it will have a takeout counter as well as seating for 20 people. Going with the trend of Daranuwat's other restaurants, it is possible Pandan Leaf could be another Thai place, maybe with some of the Tom Yum classics like drunken noodles or keaw wan gai grob.
CurryThai currently operates at 569 Cambridge St. A call to the restaurant went unanswered Friday morning, and it is not known when the place will close to make way for Pandan Leaf. Any updates will be posted when they are available.
