A Boston food truck-turned-chicken empire is getting ready to open its first sit-down restaurant in Medford this coming Monday after months of preparation. The Chicken & Rice Guys have announced the "Grand Hatching" of their 64 Salem St. location in Medford Square, according to Boston Magazine. The team behind the yellow food trucks and flavorful chicken plates were initially planning to debut in late 2015 but had to push back the opening date.

This Medford eat-in CNR will serve as the flagship location for the business, which includes four food trucks. There are 30 seats, and the kitchen serves up CNR's usual New York City-style halal cart fixings. Eventually, the Medford restaurant could offer an expanded menu, Boston Magazine reported, as the guys are working with a consulting chef to develop some new items, like falafel and hummus.

Damien Yee, one of the CNR "guys" (their senior business manager, to be specific), previously told Eater that they were excited to help out Medford Square, where they plan to be open Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The other CNR brick-and-mortar is a takeout-only space at 85 Bedford St. in Boston, serving chicken, lamb, tofu, and combo plates with a side of the homemade CNR sauces.

The Grand Hatching for the Medford restaurant will be a festive affair, complete with t-shirt and gift card giveaways, free snack-size dishes for the first 100 customers, and an award of free CNR for life for one lucky guest who finds the "Golden Chicken" sticker under their plate. The hatching will go from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday.
