A new coffee shop is making moves to open in a former gallery space on a hopping stretch of road in Jamaica Plain. Espresso Yourself has applied for a license to operate at 767 Centre St., according to Jamaica Plain News, and will likely bring plenty of caffeine along with it to the neighborhood.

On Tuesday, the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council’s public service committee heard a request from Espresso Yourself for a seven-day victualler’s license. The coffee shop made a request to operate between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., with plans to offer takeout.

The space Espresso Yourself will take over was formerly home to the Uforge Gallery, which closed in October. About a block away, there’s another option for coffee: a two-year-old Caffe Nero location. (And between the two, there’s a Dunkin’ Donuts.) Other dining options in the area include JP Seafood Cafe, Costello’s Tavern, and JP House of Pizza.
