Vegan Pizza & Milkshake Alert
Popular Brookline pizzeria Stoked (1632 Beacon St.) introduced a separate vegan menu this month, featuring appetizers (waffle fries with spicy vegan aioli and more), pizzas made with Daiya (a dairy-free cheese alternative), and boozy and non-boozy vegan milkshakes (made with FoMu dairy-free ice cream and soy milk).
Beer Here
The Globe examines the challenges facing Boston Beer Co. as the craft beer market grows increasingly large. “The approximately $100 billion beer market could be approaching its saturation point,” writes Jon Chesto, “and few companies are feeling the effects more than Boston Beer. An unending wave of competition from newer craft brewers is eroding its market share.”
Awards Season
For the Globe, Kara Baskin hands out some 2016 restaurant awards in categories such as “trend most likely to befuddle your childhood self” (tinned fish, courtesy of 2016 openings Saltie Girl and Haley.Henry).
Beyond Bubble Tea
Dorchester Reporter profiles the newish Reign Drink Lab (1370 Dorchester Ave.) in Dorchester’s Fields Corner (it opened in October.) The “passion project” is located in a former function room/storage area of Phó Hóa, and the team aims to go above and beyond the standard bubble tea offerings found in shops throughout Dorchester, serving up drinks such as a matcha draft latte and the “dark & stormy,” cold brew layered with sweetened Vietnamese coffee and topped with sea salt cream.
