A local pizza-focused restaurant will expand to Waban, taking over the space formerly occupied by Waban Kitchen. Stone L’oven Pizza Co. now has a “coming soon” sign in the 1649 Beacon St. restaurant space, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
Stone L’oven already has one location in Canton and another in Brewster. The restaurants specialize in Neapolitan-style pizzas cooked on a stone-fired hearth. Pizzas can be customized with assorted sauces, cheeses, and toppings, including meats, vegetables, and seafood (anchovies, shrimp, and scallops). Stone L’oven also has a handful of signature pies, like the fig and prosciutto, buffalo chicken, and three cheese, and the restaurants serve a variety of calzones, panini, salads, and soups as well.
Chef and owner Jeff Fournier closed Waban Kitchen in March, as previously reported, followed three months later by its sister restaurant, 51 Lincoln. He has since moved on to New Hampshire, where he plans to reopen Thompson House Eatery, as Boston Magazine reported.
