A Fenway-area restaurant that specializes in Greek food will open a second location in the city, this time in Brighton. Gyro City received zoning approval to eventually open its doors at 181 Chestnut Hill Ave., taking a space in a building that has been vacant since a fire in 2012, Universal Hub reported. Also going into the building: Purr Cat Cafe.
Gyro City first opened at 88 Peterborough St. in 2014 and will add its new Brighton outpost once it obtains the necessary licenses and approvals. The restaurant is known for serving gyros, along with souvlaki, Greek burgers, and pork sausages called loukaniko. There are also soups, salads, and sides available, and the restaurant offers catering.
The new Gyro City will seat 40 people for full-service dining, and it will seek approval to serve beer and wine. There will also be three patio seats outdoors.
