A new chocolate collaboration will fill Harvard Square with so many treats starting tonight. Alexandra Whisnant of Gâté Comme des Filles and Eric Parkes of Somerville Chocolate have teamed up to take over the Lizzy’s Ice Cream shop while it’s closed for the season and will spill forth chocolate delicacies for the next three months, according to Whisnant.
The pop-up chocolate shop, dubbed "Somerville on the Charles," celebrates its grand opening tonight, December 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 29 Church St., after which it will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
There will be chocolate samples available at the opening party, and Whisnant plans to sell chocolate mousse and "a few other goodies," she told Eater, and Eric Parkes will have his Somerville Chocolate bars available in the store. There will be a wall mural of Harvard Square, painted by Becka Schuelke, which should evoke the Somerville map at the kitchen where Gâté Comme des Filles and Somerville Chocolate normally operate in Aeronaut Brewing Company.
Somerville on the Charles will run through the end of February 2017.
