A growing group of coffee shops will add a Cambridge location to its lineup. Caffe Nero could open its newest coffee shop in Central Square as early as next week, according to a post on Facebook.
The London-based cafe already has a number of locations around Greater Boston, including a recently opened shop in Wellesley. Its Central Square cafe will be located at 589 Massachusetts Ave., near Chipotle and the MBTA red line stop. Jay Gentile, Caffe Nero’s director of US operations, previously told Eater the company has had its eye on Cambridge for some time, and that the Central Square cafe would feature a more urban, "cutting-edge" design than the other cafes.
With existing spots in Downtown Crossing, Jamaica Plain, Longwood, the South End, Fort Point, and Andover, this is Caffe Nero’s first Cambridge location. There is also a cafe planned for Brookline’s Washington Square. Other coffee shops near Caffe Nero’s spot in Central Square include Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, along with 1369 Coffee House, Mariposa Bakery, Cafe Luna, and more.
UPDATE, 11/10/16: Caffe Nero opens today, November 10, until 3 p.m., and there's free coffee. Full hours begin tomorrow, November 11 — 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
