A chain of fast-casual Mediterranean restaurants opens its first East Coast location today. With 34 existing restaurants in Texas, Verts Mediterranean Grill is making moves to expand outside the state, starting in Boston’s Financial District.
Located at 95 Summer St., Verts opens today at 11 a.m., unveiling a menu of build-your-own pitas, wraps, salads, and rice bowls, as previously reported. Customers can build their meals around falafel, beef and lamb, chicken, and beef meatballs, and choose from toppings that include tabbouleh, feta, grilled vegetables, tomatoes, and more. The restaurant also has a selection of house-made sauces to complement the entrees.
To celebrate the opening, Verts will give away free entrees today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will offer gift bags to the first 200 people who visit. Verts will donate any sales from additional purchases of sides, drinks, or entrees to a local non-profit, Building Impact.
Founded in 2011 by Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein, Verts has its sights set on further expansion outside of Texas, and it is now one of the fastest-growing fast-casual chains in the country. There are more Boston restaurants planned, though the locations have yet to be determined.
