A new Downtown restaurant that has ties to a sweet shop in the North End officially opened its doors near Haymarket, according to a tip Eater received. Lulu’s Kitchen is now open at 120 Blackstone St. with a menu of bagel sandwiches, fried chicken, and much more.

The person behind Lulu’s Kitchen is Sandy Russo, who also owns and operates Lulu’s Sweet Shoppe, a North End bakery that recently relocated to 28 Parmenter St., as previously reported. Russo’s new venture veers away from the sweets for which her bakery is known and into the territory of comfort food.

The opening menu for Lulu’s Kitchen appears on the eatery’s Instagram page and features a range of items, including steel cut oatmeal with toppings like nuts and yogurt; buttermilk biscuits; grits; and assorted egg sandwiches. There are also main dishes like mac and cheese; fried chicken with a biscuit, gravy, and slaw; shrimp, meatball, and roast beef po’ boys; and arugula and spinach salads.
