A storied venue in Harvard Square is now home to a new restaurant that has ties to another Cambridge dining spot: Benedetto has opened in the Charles Hotel at 1 Bennett St., taking over the space where Rialto operated for more than 20 years, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
Benedetto is the second restaurant from chef and owner Michael Pagliarini, who is also behind Giulia, as previously reported. Pagliarini’s plans for the space were announced in June, shortly after Rialto closed, and the restaurant space was completely redone by the architectural firm Bentel & Bentel. Benedetto showcases regional Italian cuisine and can accommodate more than 200 people, with a dining room, bar, private dining space, and outdoor patio.
The menu features traditional Italian dishes made with local and seasonal ingredients, including house-made pasta. There is also a wide selection of wine. Benedetto means "blessed" in Italian, and the restaurant is open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week.
