A spice company now has a storefront of its own in Cambridge, just outside Porter Square. Curio Spice Company has filled the space at 2265 Massachusetts Ave. with directly sourced spices, pepper grinders, and other culinary treats, and it is officially open for business, according to founder Claire Cheney.

Curio’s shop on Mass. Ave. is located near Spindler Confections, Urban Hearth, and Pemberton Farms, and inside, it boasts a cornucopia of spices. Cheney has stocked Curio with more than 50 spices and blends, plus flowers, herbs, and mementos from her global travels. She also has accessories on hand, like mortar and pestles, ceramic spice bowls, and gift boxes — including some special boxes for Thanksgiving.

Cheney started Curio Spice Co. in 2015, aiming to provide high-quality, organic, and fair-trade spices to the community, as previously reported. Before finding the Cambridge storefront, Cheney shared a kitchen at Taza Chocolate and sold spices at farmers markets and local retailers.

Curio Spice Co. operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. It is closed Mondays. The shop will also be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving, but it will reopen on Friday, November 25 at 10 a.m.
