A North End coffee shop will close at the end of service today after more than a decade of operating in the neighborhood. The Boston Common Coffee Co. located at 97 Salem St. marks its last day in operation on October 31, according to Boston Restaurant Talk, and for its final act, it will offer free coffee for customers until noon.
The North End location of Boston Common Coffee is the original, opened in 2004, and there are now three additional stores within Boston and a roasting facility outside of the city. The reason for the closure lies in the lack of a long-term lease for the coffee shop, as Boston Magazine reported. After 12 years, the owners will now concentrate on the other shops, located near TD Garden, in the Financial District, and in Downtown Crossing.
