A Worcester-based cafe is nearly ready to open its new location in Somerville. The final stages of the buildout are underway at NU Café in Union Square, and the dining spot has kicked off the hiring process ahead of its opening.

With paint on the walls, the flooring is underway, and crews will tackle the final electric and plumbing tasks next, according to NU Cafe founder and CEO Joshua Van Dyke, who is aiming for an early to mid-November opening.

NU Café will occupy the ground floor of a new development project at 197 Washington St., as previously reported. With a menu of smoothies, juices, sandwiches, burritos, salads, and more, NU Café will seat 60 people, and there will be counter seats along the window. Van Dyke told Eater in July he envisioned the cafe as a suitable spot for dining, meetings, easy pick-up, and more. The cafe will also serve organic coffee and tapped nitro cold brew, plus assorted local beers and ciders.
