A veteran Charlestown restaurateur is getting ready to open a new concept in the space that once housed his Italian restaurant. Damien Donovan will soon debut Monument at 25 Main St. after completing an expansion into the space next door, BostInno reported.
The space previously housed Paolo’s Trattoria, which specialized in pasta and wood-fired pizza. Monument will reportedly take on more of a hybrid gastropub/bistro style, Donovan told BostInno.
The restaurant is still under construction, but it will have high ceilings and a 40-foot bar and is projected to open by the end of the year. Its menu will retain the wood-fired pizzas from Paolo’s but will also include hearty meat and seafood entrees and shareable options.
Monument also applied for and was awarded a full liquor license in the most recent round of license allocations from the City of Boston.
