Shaking Crab is now open in the former Francesca Pizzeria space at 203 Adams St. in the Nonantum neighborhood of Newton, Boston Restaurant Talk reports, citing a Chowhound post. It opened a few weeks ago, according to its first batch of Yelp reviews, which are largely positive.

The restaurant's name refers to a dish of "succulent crab legs shaken in an explosive medley of Cajun flavors," according to the restaurant's under-construction website, which also promises "New Orleans flavors" and "Southern beverages." In fact, the shaking of seafood in sauce and spices is the gist of the whole menu. Choose your seafood (crab legs, crawfish, shrimp, mussels, etc.), choose your sauce (house Cajun, garlic and butter, sweet chili mayo, etc.), choose your spice level (from mild to "shakin' hot!"), and add on extras like corn and sausage. It all arrives in a bag. There are a few sides, appetizers, and desserts as well.

Shaking Crab is open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
