An Italian restaurant with locations across Massachusetts is eyeing Hingham for an expansion, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Comella's, which specializes in affordable Italian dining, retail, and catering, is set to take over the now-closed Salsa's Mexican restaurant at 211 Lincoln St.

Gene Comella thought of the concept for Comella's in 1988 and later opened the first location in Wellesley. This family business has since expanded to Arlington, Belmont, Chestnut Hill, Concord, Marblehead, Melrose, Natick, Needham, West Newton, West Roxbury, and Westwood.

page on the Hingham website confirms the planned transfer of the Salsa's all alcohol license to Comella's. Salsa's closed last summer.

Comella's offers appetizers, sides, and wings along with salads, sandwiches, wraps, ravioli, pasta, pizza, and more. It also offers the "Family Mess," which is apparently a mystery recipe that could include lasagna, pasta, eggplant, or pasta shells. Catering is available in four sizes: "individuals, 1/2 buckets, full buckets and double buckets."

UPDATE, 1/7/16: Comella's is also on the way to Bedford, Boston Restaurant Talk reports in a new post citing the Bedford-Business blog. This location, which will be inside the Bedford Marketplace, will have full-service dining and a bar, as well as counter service and takeout. (Other Comella's locations are solely counter-service.)
