A business known for its decadent, deliverable ice cream sundaes will soon have a much larger enterprise. The Scoop N Scootery's shiny new storefront received approval from the City of Arlington this week and could open as early as the end of the week, pending a health inspection, according to a post on its Facebook page.
Originally based in Somerville, The Scoop N Scootery provides ice cream and frozen yogurt sundae delivery until 2 a.m. within a 2.5 mile radius, in addition to assorted catering options across a wider circle. With 15 flavors and 35 toppings, The Scootery can create custom show-stopping sundaes, like this one:
At the end of last August, The Scootery announced its plans to establish a brick-and-mortar location. It nailed down a location at 112 Mass Ave. in September and informed customers it would maintain its standing delivery radius (don't worry, Somerville, you'll still get your sundaes.)
Since then, The Scootery team has documented its progress — and many DIY projects — on social media, revealing the installation of signage, equipment, and more. It took a brief hiatus with deliveries (following an unfortunate generator incident) but resumed the service on January 4.
With only the final health inspection hurdle remaining, The Scootery will soon serve up brain-freezable delicacies both in-house and on the road.
