A new sports bar is climbing towards an official in Inman Square (1172 Cambridge St.) The Rising Bar, which is taking over the old Hit Wicket space, is just awaiting final inspections before it can open, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Things must have gone well today as the restaurant posted on Facebook this evening that it would have a soft opening on Friday at 5 p.m., featuring an abbreviated menu.
The Rising will be a gastropub-style sports bar, and signage is in place. Its Facebook page has documented progress on interior and exterior renovations, showing reclaimed wood table tops arriving as well as the installation of an awning.
Kevin Treanor, who is tied to Phoenix Landing and a handful of other spots in the region, is behind The Rising. Ian Doody, who will serve as general manager of the restaurant, told Eater that The Rising's opening depended on final inspections.
The website is now up and running and features the full menu that will debut next week. The Rising serves everything from curried Maine mussels to a whole rotisserie chicken, burgers and sandwiches, salads, and poutine.
