By the time March rolls around, Worcester could have a hustling and bustling contemporary American restaurant. Lock 50, with chef Tim Russo leading the charge, will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, striving for comfort and relaxation in the lounge area and "casual yet upscale" service in the dining room and bar area, according to its website.
The restaurant is currently under construction, and a job posting calling for a sous chef indicates that Lock 50 anticipates a March 1 opening at 50 Water St.
Lock 50 plans to use locally roasted coffee for breakfast, which will feature pastries and crepes, "while lunch will consist of creative sandwiches, homemade soups and vibrant salads."
Russo — the 2015 winner of the Worcester's Best Chef award and an alum of Volturno, an outstanding pizza-focused restaurant in Worcester — will play up his experience with international cuisine for dinner, creating shareable dishes, small plates, and assorted specials. Photos posted on Lock 50's Facebook previewed some possible menu items, including a beet and strawberry salad and shellfish dish.
