Two familiar faces in Boston restaurants have kicked off service at a new Italian-style eatery in the South End. SRV is the work of co-owners and co-executive chefs Kevin O'Donnell and Michael Lombardi of the Coda Group (Salty Pig, Coda Kitchen & Bar, and Canary Square), who crafted a menu of homemade pastas, small plates, and hearty dishes for their new venture. Coda Group's Michael Moxley and James Cochener are also co-owners.
After a soft opening on Sunday, SRV officially opened its doors yesterday at 569 Columbus Ave. Here's a look inside the space. The menu includes items such as polpette, a pork and veal meatball with tomato and pecorino; Venetian Fisherman's Stew with local shellfish, crustaceans, baccala mantecato, chili, and tomato; and squid ink risotto, made with cuttlefish, parsley, and meyer lemon, among much more. See it all below.
O'Donnell and Lombardi, the former executive chef and chef de cuisine of The Salty Pig, left the restaurant in summer 2015 to start working on SRV. It is their first joint ownership venture.
Here's the opening menu:
SRV opens daily at 5 p.m., with food and drink available until midnight.
