Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, which has a location in Back Bay, plans to expand to 253 Summer St. in Boston's Fort Point, reports Donna Goodison of the Boston Herald. The Lolita team will attend a neighborhood meeting next week. A minute's walk down Summer Street, there's another Mexican restaurant and tequila bar, Papagayo, which opened in 2010.
The first Lolita also opened in 2010 in the former Papa Razzi space on Dartmouth Street. The dark, moody restaurant features dishes like "that corn" (charred corn on the cob with spiced Mexican aioli, cotija cheese, black pepper, and cayenne); chile relleno (roasted poblano pepper stuffed with quinoa, foraged mushrooms, seasonal vegetables, onions, and cheese); fried chicken tacos; and a variety of guacamoles. There's an ample late-night menu available nightly until midnight (1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday), and there are plenty of margaritas, mojitos, and other beverages. Monday nights feature all-you-can-eat hard shell tacos for $9.
Lolita co-owner Chris Jamison recently opened up Yvonne's in the former Locke-Ober space in Downtown Crossing.
