Five Guys Burger & Fries plans to open an outpost at 1227 Comm. Ave. in Allston, and the city is hosting a meeting for neighbors about it tomorrow, Universal Hub reports.

The fast food place would take over the former Kelly's Roast Beef shop. At one point, BonChon was planning to open a second Allston outlet there — the Korean fried chicken chain has a store on Brighton Ave., as well as locations in Harvard Square and Salem — but news of Five Guys making moves toward the space confirms that's off the table.

UHub notes the McDonald's located just across Harvard Ave. from the proposed Five Guys convinced the Boston Licensing Board to allow it a 2 a.m. closing time, based on Kelly's Roast Beef's hours of operation. Kelly's shuttered the Allston store in December 2011.

Five Guys currently has locations downtown and near Symphony, as well as in Chelsea, Medford, Newton, Braintree, and farther flung from the Hub. The company started in the Washington, D.C. area and is now in 46 states. It serves hamburgers, cheeseburgers, little hamburgers, little cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, fries, and milkshakes.

The neighborhood meeting takes place at the former Kelly's store and begins at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow.
