Big Night Entertainment Group, which is behind Empire Asian Restaurant & Lounge, Gem Italian Kitchen Lounge & Nightclub, Red Lantern Restaurant & Lounge and a handful of concepts at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, has signed on to open two ventures at One Seaport Square, Boston Restaurant Talk reported via the Boston Herald.
The Herald obtained a copy of the lease the company signed, indicating that a second outpost of the company's Scorpion Bar and a new concept called The Grande are slated to open in the Northern Avenue development. One Seaport Square broke ground in November, and the $600 million project is bringing two apartment towers, retail, and entertainment to the South Boston waterfront, the Herald reported. The development is diagonally across the street from Empire. The new BNEG ventures will take up nearly 22,000 square feet over three floors.
One Seaport Square is scheduled for completion in 2017, and BNEG declined to provide more details to the Herald about their projects at this time. The newspaper reported the names of the concepts based on the lease, not on confirmation from the company. "BNEG was an early pioneer in the Seaport, and we are working with WS Development to continue our commitment of offering first-class hospitality, award-winning food and spectacular design. We have a lot of work to do before we can share additional details," the company's founder Ed Kane said in a statement.
The Scorpion Bar is one of BNEG's four nightlife options at Foxwoods. It opened in 2009 and is billed as "a traditional Mexican tequila cantina with the attitude of a rock bar" and a "dark & sinister" atmosphere.
The restaurant serves Mexican-inspired dishes, like carne asada Philly rolls; fried jalapeno ravioli; buffalo chicken flautas; a pupu platter with enchiladas, nachos, and taquitos; and more classic fajitas, tacos, and "street burritos." The bar has more than 100 tequilas; red and white sangria in clear skull glasses; shareable Scorpion Bar bowls; and more.
