Church — a Fenway restaurant and music venue that ceased the music portion of the business earlier this month — could come under new ownership, reports Universal Hub. The Bostonian Hospitality Group, which is behind Nix's Mate downtown as well as its siblings in Newburyport, Nantucket, and Hartford, is working on purchasing the venue and turning it into just a restaurant.

Last week, the Globe quoted a representative for current Church ownership group Dramshop Hospitality as saying that the changing "local scene" was the reason for the closure of the music venue, which opened eight years ago. Dramshop is also behind the Regal Beagle in Brookline and Union Fish in Plymouth and Hingham.

For the time being, the restaurant portion of Church will remain open, so get in soon to drink "sinful" cocktails and eat dishes like fried chicken sliders, catfish tacos, mac and cheese, and more.

UPDATE, 9/29/15: Church is now completely closed.
