In the wake of the National Football League Players Association filing a lawsuit against the National Football League regarding Tom Brady's four-game "Deflategate" suspension, tons of evidence has been released, including a large number of personal emails to and from Brady.
Deadspin rounds up some of the interesting ones, one of which reveals that Brady thinks Oishii, a South End sushi restaurant, is "great." In February 2015, he exchanged emails with Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini, planning to meet at Oishii for dinner and have a "very casual" discussion on sports science in regards to athlete "preparation and body maintenance for games." Aquilini praised Brady's knowledge, writing that it's "amazing how far advanced [Brady is] in sports science...[he is] by far the most advanced in terms of its application."
Turns out Brady's love of good sushi goes back a few years. An August 2009 piece in the Boston Globe Magazine notes that "the lovebirds [Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen] take their usually public displays to the private dining room at sushi destination Oishii." And a 2012 book, Food Lovers' Guide to Boston, notes that the restaurant is "sometimes frequented" by the pair. In 2014, a blogger who was dining there at the same time as them heard that they are friends with the owner and dine there several times a year.
The South End location of Oishii is the trendy, upscale sibling to Oishii Sushi Bar in Chestnut Hill, one of Boston's most essential sushi restaurants.
