A few blocks from Lechmere, an East Cambridge stretch of storefronts is getting new life with the opening of a coffee shop and a Vietnamese restaurant. Construction is underway throughout the space, and signage indicates the eventual arrival of Curio Coffee at 441 Cambridge St. and an unnamed Vietnamese restaurant at 445 Cambridge St.

Curio Coffee, a "specialty coffee shop," has the beginnings of an internet presence with a few posts on Instagram and Twitter. It will feature Counter Culture coffee, bagels, doughnuts, and breakfast sandwiches, and there will be some gluten-free options, although the menu is limited by the available space and ventilation, according to an Instagram post. Waffles are also on the docket, owner and manager Justin Pronovost tells Eater. This is his first coffee shop.

Curio Coffee could open in mid-September, and the shop will be decorated with antiques. 441 Cambridge St. was previously, briefly home to a Petsi Pies location, which moved to 594 Cambridge St. in January.
