Inman Square is throwing a couple of "funches" — fun lunches — in Vellucci Plaza (where Cambridge Street meets Beacon Street) this Thursday, August 6, and next Thursday, August 13, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The first date features postural assessments and wellness coaching by FitLAB Pilates and live music by Yani Batteau & the Styles, while the second date features chair massages by Inman Oasis and live music by Pretentious Fools.
Both dates will feature food from area restaurants: Ole, Guangzhou, and the in-the-works Playska, opening this fall in the former Rosie's Bakery space. There will also be free water available, courtesy of Naveo Credit Union.
When Tim and Bronwyn Wiechmann open their new shop, it'll be their first venture into the fast-casual world. Playska's namesake menu item is the playska sandwich, a play on a Balkan dish, pljeskavica. Tim's version consists of a beef-and-pork patty served on soft pogacha bread and topped with a red pepper compote called ajvar, a cream cheese-based sauce, pickled cucumber, and red onion.
No word yet on what the duo plans to serve at "funch," but it's fair to expect some awesome bread at the very least — an in-house bread program will be a focal point of the new restaurant. "We have fine dining, we have a bar, and now I'd like to work on bread, on a bakery," Tim previously told Eater. "A different skill-set, really. It's a combination of a lot of the traveling that we were doing and stuff I've been doing for fun in the kitchen."
