As Ganko Ittetsu Ramen gets closer to opening in the Arcade building in Brookline, taking over the former MJ Ready space, chef Ken Iwaoka will offer a taste of his ramen at a pop-up this Saturday, September 5, at 1 p.m. at Reliable Market in Somerville's Union Square. (If you ever went to O Sushi in Harvard Square for a Ramen Wednesday in late 2014 or early 2015, you've probably already experienced Iwaoka's ramen.)
As previously reported, Ganko, which will have seating for 17 diners, will serve a variety of ramen in the $11-$12 range, as well as appetizers like pan-fried pork gyoza and quick-cured cucumber with sesame oil and garlic soy sauce. The restaurant won't open with a liquor license, but the team plans to get the necessary permits in the future.
