At least three Kendall Square restaurants have been affected by a fire that broke out last night.
Flat Top Johnny's and The Blue Room sustained smoke and water damage, assistant chief James Burns of the Cambridge Fire Department said. On its Facebook page, Beantowne Coffee House shared that it is closed because of water damage as well:
It is with great sadness but exponentially more resolve that we share the news that our store was destroyed last night when a fire moved through the ventilation system of the building. Luckily, the fire didn't enter our store, but a few hundred gallons of water supplied by the great guys at the Cambridge FD sure did!
"We got a call around 8:30 last night about heavy smoke and sprinkler operation at two first-floor restaurants," Burns said, adding the call pinpointed One Kendall Square, Building 200. "It's still under investigation."
An employee reached at the office of DivcoWest, One Kendall Square's property management company, had no information this morning.
Flat Top Johnny's shared on Facebook that it will be closed "until further notice" and that the page will be updated. The Blue Room's website indicates that its lunch grill is closed, and OpenTable reservations for the restaurant are currently offline.
NECN reported no one was injured during the Sunday night emergency.
