A large, upscale steakhouse brand with a Downtown Crossing location is eyeing Waltham for potential development. Ruth's Chris Steak House is in "market study" at 10 CityPoint, a mixed-use development being built along Route 128, an employee at the company's corporate office said.
"It's not a definite yes, it's not a definite no," she said.
The brand's logo is included on a poster advertising the new development hanging in a nearby office building, Twitter user @dmahr shared.
10 CityPoint will also be home to Osteria Posto (a second location of Davis Square chef and restaurateur Joe Casinelli's rustic, Italian Posto) and Bonefish Grill (a seafood concept from Outback Steakhouse's corporate parent that currently has a local branch in Burlington).
Ruth's Chris has more than 130 locations in the United States and around the world. The restaurants seek 7,900 - 10,000 square-foot spaces in high-visibility areas that at least 30,000 cars drive by per day, according to its corporate website. Located about 11 miles from Boston at Exit 27 off Rt. 128, more than 400,000 cars will drive by the 10 CityPoint development, the Waltham News Tribune reported last year. Ruth's Chris looks to develop in areas with a "concentration of upper-end expense account hotels, upscale retail, office, [a] and wealthy residential base."
