Brookline may have lost a most eclectic eatery. MJ Ready appears shuttered after a six-year run inside the Arcade building, Boston Restaurant Talk reported.
The restaurant's website is still live, but phone calls made during typical business hours today rang without an answer. Google indicates the shop has permanently closed. One Yelper echoes that assessment, but another said the shop shuttered to renovate earlier this month. A Chowhound user reported seeing the storefront inside the mall at 318 Harvard Street papered over this weekend.
MJ Ready debuted in 2009 from husband-and-wife duo Jim and Mayuree Brown. With May Brown at the helm of the kitchen, the restaurant specialized in Thai cuisine, but also offered Italian pasta dishes, sandwiches, fresh baked goods, coffee, espresso, and breakfast all day.
The Browns previously owned and operated a Thai restaurant in Dover, N.H., which they closed in the mid-00s for family health reasons, MJ Ready's website indicates.
Has MJ Ready closed for good, or is there a possible renovation in the works? Eater has reached out to the business' general email and will update with any confirmation. Send a note via the tipline if you know more.
UPDATE, 8/19: Jim Brown said he and his wife sold MJ Ready on July 24, and a new restaurant will be opening in the space "soon."
