Take Home a Little Piece of Hungry Mother

The recently shuttered Kendall Square classic is hosting a "tag sale, silent auction, and cocktail party."

Hungry MotherCambridge's Hungry Mother closed on July 3 after more than seven years in Kendall Square as James Beard Award-winning chef Barry Maiden decided to "move on to other projects." Without Maiden, the rest of the team — John Kessen, Rachel Miller Munzer, Alon Munzer, Heather Mojer, Tyler Sundet, and Rachel Sundet — will be opening a new restaurant in the same space (233 Cardinal Medeiros Ave.), and they continue to run Hungry Mother's little sibling, State Park, which is also in Kendall.

On Sunday, August 23, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., the team is reopening the doors to the former Hungry Mother space. It's not time for the new restaurant yet — it's a cocktail party where fans can buy pieces of Hungry Mother, from the host stand cardinal to framed postcards to pans and cutlery and lots more. There'll even be original artwork by Kessen and by bartender Duane Gorey.

"Come see your old friends," bids an email newsletter. "Buy some souvenirs. Buy a drink (from Heather!). Have a snack. Bid on an auction. And re-live the glory days..."

The Fabbian light fixture and matching sconces will also be for sale; the team believes it's no longer available in the United States, so jump on that if you're a fan. Email rachel@hungrymothercambridge.com if you'd like to make a serious inquiry and you're unavailable on Sunday.
