Menton, the glitziest piece of Barbara Lynch's empire, is closed for renovations through July 12, and when it reopens the next day, The Gold Bar will be revealed, according to the restaurant's OpenTable page. It's a collaboration between Menton chef de cuisine Scott Jones, Lynch, executive wine director (and wine genius) Cat Silirie, and bar consultant John Gertsen, formerly of Drink. Last summer, Gertsen departed for San Francisco but has maintained a relationship with the Barbara Lynch Gruppo as "spirits and hospitality ambassador."
The "glam cocktail bar" will have a bar top made of "a rare Italian marble," Giallo Siena — and apparently the last available slab that has gold veining. Keep an eye on #MentonGoldBar on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for more sneak peeks as the opening date approaches.
