A little over a year after making its existence known, the Cambridge outpost of Lone Star Taco Bar has finally thrown open its doors in the former Lizzy's space in East Cambridge, nestled between Inman Square and Lechmere. A little bit larger than its big sibling in Allston, Lone Star Cambridge offers a large bar as the focal point of the room and some table, booth, and counter seating around the front, left, and back walls.

The menu is almost identical to the one in Allston, so longtime patrons will find all their favorite tacos ($4 each) there, from chorizo with pickled radish, queso fresco, and mint to Dallas spicy beef with mushrooms, chilis, and longhorn cheese. The latter is on a fried tortilla. Don't forget the hot sauces on the table — one is sweet potato-habanero, the other is maple-jalapeño, and both will make you cry spicy tears of happiness.

Two new dishes offered exclusively in Cambridge are a Sonoran-style hot dog (wrapped in bacon, deep-fried, and topped with refried beans, pico de gallo, and a cilantro-lime crema) and a hearty torta. Bring an appetite.

On the beverage side, there's tons of tequila, a creative beer and wine selection, and a big handful of cocktails, including a couple favorites from Lone Star's other Allston sibling, Deep Ellum, like the fernet buck, which balances fernet with a house-made ginger beer, lime, and bitters.

Lone Star Taco Bar is open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily in Cambridge, serving food until midnight.
