The South End shop has extended its hours as well.

Now seven months old, The Gallows' little sibling, Blackbird Doughnuts, has expanded its hours and line-up: It has begun offering soft-serve ice cream in addition to its ever-changing doughnut array. Instead of closing at 3 p.m., the shop is now open until 8 p.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends. Doughnuts are available into the evening hours, not just the ice cream — while supplies last. (On the earlier end, ice cream lovers have to wait until 11:45 a.m. to get their fix. It's just doughnuts from 7 a.m. until then.)

In traditional soft-serve style, chocolate, vanilla, and a swirl of the two are available, with optional chocolate cake doughnut crumbs on top. Keep an eye out for other options as well. Meanwhile, current doughnut flavors include salted toffee, blackberry lavender, birthday cake, maple peanut butter, and lots more. Coffee, tea, and milk are also served inside the tiny shop, which doesn't have any seating inside.

The Gallows team is also in the process of opening Banyan Bar + Refuge in the former Hamersley's Bistro space in the South End — possibly later this month. East by Northeast's Phillip Tang is executive chef of the "Asian-inspired gastropub," which will feature lots of seafood dishes.
