CabotProvincetown-based Cabot's Candy has just opened a new shop in Harvard Square at 1300 Massachusetts Ave., reports Boston Restaurant Talk. The company's first retail location dates back to 1955, according to the Cabot's website, although its Facebook page suggests that the family behind it has been making candy even longer, since 1927.

The specialties are saltwater taffy and fudge. There's also peanut butter brittle (made with beer instead of water) and a variety of bulk candies.

Cabot's is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. six days a week (closed on Sundays).
