A tipster tweeted a photo of Stats Bar & Grille last night, and Boston Restaurant Talk noted this morning that the South Boston bar was closed with a sign on the door at 77 Dorchester St. indicating the shutter was per the city's licensing board.
A manager, reached by phone at the bar this morning, confirmed Stats was indeed forced to close last night, and though they're open for lunch today from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., they will be closed again tonight. They will open tomorrow as usual and resume regular hours, he added.
Recent licensing board agendas don't give clues as to what may have caused the shutter. The manager said the issue is related to paperwork with the licensing office, though he didn't elaborate. "It's nothing that's going to be ongoing. We open for good again tomorrow morning at 11," he said.
Stats opened in 2010 as the second outpost of J.A. Stats in the Financial District, BRT notes. The original J.A. Stats shuttered in 2012.
