In honor of Cheap Eats Week, July 13-17, a few chefs around town are offering cheap specials that pay homage to their favorite cheap eats. Visit these restaurants by the end of the week to try out the dishes:
Chef de cuisine Dan Bazzinotti is serving up anticuchos — grilled beef hearts — as an homage to the Peruvian street food he fell in love with on his travels. Available all week for $5, the skewered hearts are served with a tomato-scallion salsa. Pictured above.
Bread & Salt Hospitality's Josh Lewin and Katrina Jazayeri wrap up their residency at Cuisine en Locale on Sunday; they're open for lunch and dinner Thursday through Saturday and brunch on Sunday. In honor of Cheap Eats Week, they're offering a bocadillo (sandwich) with two sides for $15. Bocadillo choices are Serrano ham and tomato, grilled cheese and avocado, or egg and potato.
Executive chef Stephen Marcaurelle is offering pollo a la brasa with aji Amarillo, benne seeds, and lovage, taking chicken wings to the next level, for $9 through Friday.
