After abruptly closing down the Charlestown location of Papagayo a few months back, the Legendary Restaurant Group is opening a new Saugus location (817 Broadway St.) of the Mexican restaurant this Tuesday, June 9. The same restaurant group is also behind Burger Dive, Scollay Square, and a couple other concepts, as well as three other Papagayo outposts (South Boston, downtown Boston, and Somerville's Assembly Row).
Papagayo features a lengthy tequila list and the expected array of Mexican-inspired dishes, from tacos to enchiladas, as well as hamburgers and sandwiches, soups and salads, and more.
Papagayo Saugus will serve food from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with the bar remaining open until 1 a.m. seven nights a week.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story indicated that the restaurant was hosting a grand opening party on Monday evening, as announced on the restaurant's official Facebook page and website. The event is actually private, and the restaurant opens to the public the next day.
