Just over a year since the expansion was initially announced, Lone Star Taco Bar will open to the public this Sunday, July 5, at 635 Cambridge St. in Cambridge, the former Lizzy's space. It's the new kid sibling to adjacent Allston hotspots Deep Ellum and the original Lone Star Taco Bar.
Above, take a peek at some of the details inside the new outpost, from Buffalo Tracey and accent cacti to the ample coat hooks and outlets at the bar and the snazzy tin ceiling. And once you get inside, be sure to look down — there are numerous brass lions holding up the foot rail at the bar.
The space fits about 65 diners, a little bit bigger than the Allston location, and there will eventually be sidewalk dining as well. When you first enter the restaurant, there's a table to either side, and the bar — right in front of you — takes up the bulk of the room, leaving some space for a few booths along the left and some stools at counters in the back left corner.
For those familiar with the Allston menu, you'll find all that here, plus a few Cambridge specials, like a Sonoran-style hot dog (wrapped in bacon) and a torta. The beverage program will include a large beer list, about 60 agave spirits, "funky" white wines, and more.
