Union Square's newest music venue, Thunder Road, has been delayed by construction on the space that was formerly Radio, but spiffy new signage went up over the weekend and the club promises it will be open "very very soon."

It has moved a show scheduled for this Thursday, July 2 to Church in Fenway, but at the moment, two shows are slated for next Thursday, July 9.

Thunder Road has been in the works since last August and intended to open this spring. Since April, it has been moving shows to Churchpostponing gigs, or canceling events, as readying the space has taken longer than anticipated.

Thunder Road will have a completely different layout than its predecessor, as the team has completely demolished the interior on both the ground floor and basement levels. The stage will be located at the back of the main floor; it was on the opposite end, near the main entrance, during the Radio days. The main bar has also been relocated. Downstairs will house a lounge area, as well as Thunder Road's bathrooms and a brand-new kitchen.

And with that brand-new kitchen, the Thunder Road team intends for the food to be as much of an attraction as its shows. Chef Barry Mauger's menu is coming soon to the club's new website, but in March, the venue's Facebook page teased some items that may end up on the list. Expect hearty American fare like a jalapeno burger and bourbon barbecue ribs, and brunch items like eggs Florentine and banana caramel pancakes.
