A spot on Moody Street in Waltham is getting ready to open as Amuleto Mexican Table, Waltham Food and Restaurants reports via the Downtown Waltham Partnership.
The new eatery will be at least the fourth Mexican restaurant to fill the space at 484 Moody St. It replaces, most recently, Habanero's, which closed in 2014. Before Habanero's, Boston Restaurant Talk noted the space housed a second outpost of taqueria Tango Mango, which still exists in Newton Center; before that, it was a Mexican eatery called Hungry Coyote.
Not much is known about Amuleto Mexican Table, including when it plans to open. An expired job listing on Craigslist indicates the company was hiring for a chef de cuisine in May, and an unofficial Facebook page appears to show some action to ready the space earlier this spring.
A representative of Downtown Waltham Partnership, a non-profit revitalization effort, reported getting a preview of Amuleto's menu earlier this month. "Looks incredible. This will be a nice addition to the international cuisine on Moody Street," the person wrote.
Moody Street is home to many restaurants, including a handful of Mexican and Latin American eateries. Antojitos Cafe is right nearby at 489 Moody St.; further down the street, Margaritas, Guanachapi's, and the new half-Irish Garcia Brogan's all offer some Mexican fare.
