It's probably a year away from being a reality, but the Davis Square mainstay Dave's Fresh Pasta is planning to open a second location on the Tufts University campus, Boston Restaurant Talk reported via the Medford Transcript.
The second Dave's is proposed for a new "gateway" building at Tufts, located at 572 Boston Ave. The building will house various university departments and be a landmark on its science and technology campus, the Transcript reported.
The original Dave's Fresh Pasta is a food and wine shop that carries homemade sauces, prepared foods, imported items, artisan cheeses, bread, specialty groceries, and (non-liquor) booze, and also has a lunch counter featuring panini, Italian entrees, salads, soups, and more.
For its second act, though, Dave's would be more of a sit-down eatery with about 60 seats, general manager Christina Theophanis told the Transcript. The team is also looking into serving beer and wine on site. "We will have a market aspect and a significant takeout aspect as we do here. But the market part of it will be much smaller — it will be more everyday essentials," Theophanis said.
The GM said she anticipates opening eight months to a year from now in Medford.
