Ixtapa Mexican Grill & Cantina Looks Like a Late Summer Arrival in Watertown

A new outpost of a local chain is slated to move into the space that housed the Verona Restaurant in Watertown, but the new Ixtapa Mexican Grill & Cantina probably won't debut until August, owner Ramon Brambila said.

When the Brambila family originally announced the sixth location of their growing Massachusetts restaurant group, they eyed a fall 2014 opening. That was pushed back to February, then, eveutually, mid-June when the Watertown News covered it. A call to the Lexington Ixtapa this morning yielded the August update.

Ixtapa first opened in Lunenburg in 2005 and has grown to include locations in Groton, Woburn, Lexington, and, most recently, Acton. The menu at all restaurants features family recipes by chef Eric Brambila.

Based on the cuisine of Guadalajara, Mexico, expect tacos, burritos, enchiladas, chimichangas, seafood dishes, and more, the Watertown News reported. There will also be more than a dozen tequilas, imported cervezas, domestic beers, and specialty margaritas.
